Best Neighbourhoods for Nomads

Canggu remains the epicentre — endless cafes with fast WiFi, co-working spaces, beach access, and a large nomad community. It’s become noticeably more expensive and crowded in recent years. Ubud is better for those wanting a quieter, more cultural base (rice fields, yoga, arts scene). Seminyak is upscale and lifestyle-focused but less nomad-dense.

Best Co-Working Spaces

Dojo Bali in Canggu is the most established — reliable internet, good community events, and a pool. Outpost has locations in both Ubud and Canggu. Tribal in Canggu is popular with longer-term residents. Most cafes in Canggu function as de facto co-working spaces and are cheaper.

Internet Reliability

Bali’s internet has improved significantly. Most co-working spaces offer 50–200Mbps. Cafe WiFi varies wildly. Always test before committing to a spot for a long work session. Power cuts happen, especially during rainy season.

Visa Options

Indonesia introduced a Digital Nomad Visa (E33G) that allows remote workers to live and work legally for up to 5 years without paying local income tax.
