Shanghai, China travel tips
Real traveler tips for Shanghai in China: hostels, food, transport, hikes, activities, hidden gems, night life, social life and costs — shared by travelers who have actually been there.
Transport in Shanghai
- marcob92: The metro system is actually insane. I thought Tokyo was intense but this is next level. Just make sure you download the AliPay app before you go so you can use the transport QR codes easily.
Food in Shanghai
- rebeccak: Does anyone know where to find the best shengjianbao? I've tried Yang's but I want to find a more local, hole-in-the-wall spot that isn't a chain.
Activities in Shanghai
- lucas__: Unpopular opinion but the Bund is way too crowded to be enjoyable. It's better to just see the skyline from a rooftop bar in Jing'an instead of fighting the crowds at the waterfront.
Costs in Shanghai
- joshw: Coffee here is surprisingly expensive... I'm paying more for a latte than I do in London or NYC.
Hidden gems in Shanghai
- charlieb: The propaganda poster art center in the basement of that apartment building is weirdly cool. It's super hard to find but worth it if you like history.
