Amsterdam, Netherlands travel tips
Real traveler tips for Amsterdam in Netherlands: hostels, food, transport, hikes, activities, hidden gems, night life, social life and costs — shared by travelers who have actually been there.
Transport in Amsterdam
- charlieb: Does anyone actually use the metro? I've been here three days and have only used the trams and rented a bike. Not sure if it's worth getting a multi-day pass for the GVB.
Food in Amsterdam
- mariah_92: Avoid the waffle shops in the center with the massive displays in the window, they are just tourist traps. Look for a proper stroopwafel stand at the Albert Cuyp Market instead.
Social life in Amsterdam
- lucas__: Found a really cool board game cafe in West if anyone is looking for something chill to do that isn't just sitting in a loud bar.
Costs in Amsterdam
- danny_k: The museum prices are getting insane. 22 euro for the Rijksmuseum is a bit much if you aren't a huge art person.
Activities in Amsterdam
- sophiek: Is it better to book the Anne Frank house weeks in advance or can you still get lucky with last minute tickets on the day?
